What is a Simple Way to Explain the Cloud?

So, if you think about the services that all of us have started using or have become accustomed to using, think about Netflix, Google Photos, any photos of somebody, or WhatsApp.

It’s an application or service you use on a device, interacting with something on the other side.

In the old days, companies that started this kind of service purchased infrastructure, which they installed in a big data centre at the bottom of a building or a rented data centre somewhere,  but they had the responsibility of maintaining and building, which means that in order to build a service like that, you would need an enormous amount of money.

The Cloud Data Centre as a Business Opportunity 

Companies like Microsoft and Amazon saw the opportunity to buy the hardware, place it in buildings, manage these buildings, manage the power, and then sell it to companies on a per-hour basis. 

That means you can have an idea like this in your basement and have infrastructure up and running within a couple of hours across the globe. And scale from the as you needed.

The storing of data to and fro goes from your device or your application to one of these cloud data centres and then across to wherever else it needs to go.
